Cibola National Forest

Cibola National Forest is a massive 1.6 million-acre National Forest in New Mexico. The national forest is home to bobcats, mule deer, and black bears. Albuquerque is closest to the Sandia Mountain Wilderness district of the forest. 

The Sandia Mountain Wilderness has 117 miles of well-maintained trails including La Luz Trail and Crest Trail. Sandia Peak Tramway can take hikers to the crest of the Sandia Mountains. Remember to bring water! If you are fortunate, you might see birds of prey such as golden eagles. 

Albuqurque International Balloon Museum

This is an amazing place to learn about ballooning and see exhibits firsthand! The Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum opened in 2005 and is named after balloonists Maxie Anderson and Ben Abruzzo. Visitors can see ballooning memorabilia and exhibits. 

The museum is located beside the Balloon Fiesta Park. In October, the park hosts the annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. It started out as 13 hot air balloons in 1972. The nine-day fiesta is now the biggest balloon festival on the planet! 

Cliff’s Amusement Park

Get ready for a day of fun and adventure! Cliff’s Amusement Park is an amusement and water park in Albuquerque. The park has great rides such as Fire Ball, SideWinder, and Musik Express. They also have the New Mexico Rattler which is a hybrid roller coaster on a traditional wooden track. 

There are plenty of kid rides in Kiddyland such as Doggie Ride, Frog Hopper, and Happy Swing! If it’s getting too hot outside, you should check out Cliff’s refreshing water park: WaterMania! The family-owned amusement park has been brining smiles to Albuquerque residents since 1959.
